Edmonton - A breath of fresh air!

I flew to Edmonton for the ITU Paratriathlon World Championships . The venue  was absolutely gorgeous and the weather could not have been better. I had a very early flight out on Sunday and needed to pump before my 3.5 hour flight to Chicago (we were delayed out of Edmonton so I missed my connection at O'Hare - I will blog about how I handled that when traveling with 150oz of frozen milk). I flew our of the US departures terminal at Edmonton International Airport. I was pleasantly surprised by the extremely clean family bathrooms. They are individual bathrooms that have 2 outlets. Although there was no chair for me to sit in - the counter was quite large so I ended up sitting on it. Overall, this has been my best experience thus far with pumping when I fly and I give Edmonton a 4 out of 5 (would have been a 5 if there was a chair to sit in!)

O'Hare

I usually fly united airlines as I do travel a lot for US Paralympics as medical classifier. I also travel for work as I conduct cancer research. I have traveled a few times through Chicago O'hare recently - once, unfortunately missing my connection (I will blog about how I dealt with a travel delay later). O'Hare does have several "family restrooms" located throughout a variety of terminals. I've never had to wait to use one, which is nice. These are single unit bathrooms with a large changing table surface, sink, toilet and 2 outlets. I wish it had a chair to sit on (I had to pump standing up) and was cleaner. But I was glad there was at least an outlet (actually 2 - which is a bonus because I could charge my phone).  I score O'Hare a 2.5, the positives: private with 2 outlets, the negatives: no chair and not very clean.

Below are the locations for these family restrooms:

Terminal 1 - B4 (2), B10 (2), C20(2), Baggage Claim (2)
Terminal 2 - Across from the Children's Museum (2), E3, Baggage Claim
Terminal 3 - G11, H14, H3, K1 (2), L5, Rotunda, Baggage Claim
Terminal 5 - Near Security Checkpoint, Food Court Area

Omaha - Eppley Airfield

I have recently moved to the midwest and prefer smaller airports that aren't so chaotic to travel out of. I was quite disappointed when I learned there were no family bathrooms in Terminal B at Omaha - Eppley Airfield. Actually there were absolutely no accommodations for nursing or pumping moms at all. I ended up going into a larger stall located in the women's restroom and sat on the floor to pump. Because there were no outlets I had to use my battery pack on my pump.

Sorry Omaha - but you get a "0"

Rating system

I've tried to devise a user friendly system:

A "0" will be for the lowest rating

and a "5" for the highest rating.

A little bit about me

I am someone who travels a lot for work. Sometimes I am fortunate to bring my son with me but many times I travel solo. I tried to research information about where the best places I can pump or nurse when I travel. The problem was - I couldn't find much information. So I decided I would share my experiences in order for other mom's out there to have this information. I hope you find this helpful and please feel free to contribute any valuable information!
